Be Mine – Love Me Do Blog Hop Day 1

Welcome to the “Love Me Do” Valentine’s Blog Hop! This week, January 16th-20th, we have a group of 5 talented designers sharing projects with you on their blogs to get you prepared for the upcoming season of love! Whether you use these designs to create something for your loved ones or spring-board off the inspirations given, we would love to see your work as well, so leave a comment on the blogs as you go through.

On January 24th, we will be giving away a collection of goodies from the group to one lucky participant. The giveaway will be hosted through filling out a Google Docs form, here on Live.Teach.Create on January 20th, asking various questions about the posts throughout the week. All those who enter with the correct answers will have a chance to win!

Onto today’s project…

For this card I wanted to keep it simple yet classy. I went with a black base and wanted to pull from that elegance to make a nice card that would work for a man or woman. I used my Corner Chomper to round the edges of the bottom corner add in a pop as well.

The lined piece is actually a B side from the My Mind’s Eye Sunshine 6×6 Paper Pad {total card count with this pad is nearing 20} and 2 1/2″ wide. I used my EK Success Diamond Lace border punch to give it a nice edge. I then inked the edges of this paper with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink before going around the edges with a Bic Ultra Fine Marker in Tuxedo Black.

For the sentiment on this card, I used the CTMH Say It in Style My Acrylix and a retired set for the heart. Be Mine is inked in Memento Tuxedo Black and the hearts are inked in Distress Ink Festive Berries from the Winter Limited Edition set.

Before I adhered the strip down, I went to my stash of ribbons and lace and pulled out a nice piece of cream lace. I cut it to size and adhered it down on near the top of the strip. I wanted to add some color as well so I got a piece of black grosgrain ribbon and some twine and tied it around the lace into a knot. Once this was secure, I used foam tape on the back and added it to the center of my card.

The final thing that I did for this card is to spray it with Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. I love how it muted some of the black but also made the entire card have a bit of sparkle.

This card is available for sale in my Etsy shop as well as many other cards. Jump on over and grab some today!
